The second of the Mr. Wong series. In this one Boris finds Brandon Edwards who is getting the largest star sapphire in the world, the “Eye of the Daughter of the Moon”. He confides in Wong that his life is in danger. He dies, and in another few murders the sapphire gets juggled around a […]
William Henry Pratt (23 November 1887 – 2 February 1969), better known by his stage name Boris Karloff (/ˈkɑːrlɒf/), was an English actor[2] who starred as Frankenstein's monster in the horror film Frankenstein (1931), which established him as a horror icon. He reprised the role in Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Son of Frankenstein (1939). Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome - 1947
This Dick Tracy movie has Boris Karloff as Gruesome where he uses a toxic gas to paralyze people and rob banks. This isn’t to be confused with the series of shorts. Look for the weird part around 10 minutes in where they kind of break the 4th wall and reference Boris Karloff.
Mr. Wong, Detective - 1938
This is the second in a series of movies that exist in a strange subset of Mystery / Detective movies where the detective is of Oriental decent. You know, because people from the East have superior and almost mystic deductive qualities, perfectly suiting them to work as detectives for crowded cities in the USA. Anyway, […]
Mr. Wong In Chinatown - 1939
A woman seeking help from detective James Wong is killed (Like the two other movies so far, people need to stay away from Mr. Wong!) with a poison dart before she has a chance to explain anything to Mr. Wong. As she dies she has just enough time to scribble “Captain J”
British Intelligence - 1940
A spy vs. spy movie in which no one’s identity is easily identifiable. During WWI German master spy Helene von Lorbeer is sent to live with the family of a high ranking British official in London to gather information on them. Their butler is also a spy and she is to help him transmit British military […]
The Ghoul - 1933
An Egyptologist comes back from the dead to wreak havoc on the living that disturbed his tomb and messed with his precious jewel.
Doomed To Die - 1940
A million and a half dollars in bonds were taken from one of Cyrus P. Wentworth’s ships before it was mysteriously sunk and, shortly afterward, Wentworth was found murdered. Wentworth was kicking out his daughter’s fiance, Dick Flemming, at the time of his death and Dick is arrested as the primary suspect, but reporter Bobbie […]
The Fatal Hour - 1940
Detective James Wong is hired by Captain Street to help find the killer of Dan O’Grady. Mr. Wong does find the killer along with a large smuggling operation, but not until more people needlessly die. I do love these movies, but I also have to wonder how detective Wong gets such a great reputation. Usually the […]
Juggernaut - 1937
An evil, mad doctor (played by Boris Karloff) is in need of funds for his devious experiments so he cooperates with the greedy wife of a rich man to try to get at his money.
