A new school teacher arrives in a small rural town in the middle of a milk crisis (ha!) that has the townsfolk on edge. Micky Rooney stars as a boy who’s father is a shell-shocked (PTSD) war veteran who has lost himself in the bottle. The townsfolk look down on Mickey Rooney and his dad, but the new school teacher sees beyond the petty social class squabbles and takes an interest in the unfortunate young boy.
Exclusive of his Andy Hardy character, this is considered one of Mickey Rooney’s better roles, although for me that’s inclusive.
