An entry of the “Mother Riley” series with Bela Lugosi. In this one Arthur Lucan playing Mother Riley goes on an adventure with a robot that’s radar controlled by “The Vampire”, a mad scientist bent on controlling the world. This movie is wacky. Arthur doesn’t play a terribly convincing old lady (but still funny), Bela […]

Suspense – A Cask Of Amontillado - 1949
An adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s story for early television. This isn’t really the best adaptation, but it is really cool to see Bela Lugosi (who plays the Fortunato) doing early tv, even in the bad health (plus addiction) he was in at the time.
The Phantom Creeps - 1949
Bela Lugosi stars in this serial turned made-for-tv-movie complete with mad scientists, Lugosi hamming it up, a crazy robot, and all the other reasons you would ever want to watch a movie like this. Does knowing the story really help you make your decision to watch?
Scared to Death - 1947
A woman lying dead in a morgue tells the bizarre story of how she ended up there. This movie has both Bela Lugosi and George Zucco in it, but it’s a pretty stinky movie.

An insurance investigator gets caught up in an inheritance dispute and eventually murder while staying in a creepy mansion waiting to bury a dead millionaire.
Voodoo Man - 1944

Yet another example of the “Mad Man Controlling Others To Do His Will” genre.
The Ape Man - 1943
Conducting weird scientific experiments, crazed Dr. James Brewster, aided by his colleague Dr. Randall, has managed to transform himself into a hairy, stooped-over ape-man. With Randall refusing to help him, it falls to Brewster and his captive gorilla […]
